AY DIOS MIO.
I spent the better part of this morning and afternoon with Daniel going over photos from yesterday's lookbook shoot, and without getting too crazy, let me just say, everything turned out BETTER than expected.

For those of you who missed last month's event, we're doing it again!  Friday, August 26th!  Don't text me the day after asking how it was.  Be there, FOOL!
TONIGHT'S ENTREE: MY OWN WORDS.
Yep, that's what I'm eating tonight for dinner.  It wasn't that long ago at all that I made a bold statement claiming I ONLY shoot on 35mm film.  I think that was before I had car payments, because I sold out, and I went digital.  For the techies, a Nikon D5100 to be exact.

Film costs money; a lot of it.  In order to update this blog as much as I'd like to, and as efficient as I'd like to, there was just no way I was going to be able to get it done, solely using film.

The processing, developing, oops we accidentally gave yours to a guy named "Bill';  Its happened.

Without further ado, I now present to you a completely raw picture I took in my backyard, using none other than my new camera.  No photoshop.  No gimmicks.

I'm down.

MOVING FORWARD.
Double click here to add text.
On Sunday April 22, 2012, Keen Ramps, Dubtree, Spank. GripLabreau Surfboards, and the Moxi Girls teamed up and held a FREE BBQ, skateboard product and clothing giveaway, as well as an entire spring cleaning makeover to our beloved Caruther's Skate Park in Bellflower, CA.

For a lot of us this skate park is a home away from home; a sanctuary for the those who grind out 40+ hours a week and need to hit the reset button after work; a local gathering for the youth to catch up.  On this day we planned on nothing more than to bring our community together, and to thank them for everything they have done for us.

Mission accomplished.
The Earth Day Gnar-B-Que was a monumental event that completely took back our skate park from the otherwise graffiti-ridden walls, broken glass covered floors, and piles of trash.  For one day we were able to give our youth a completely bully free, clean, safe, skate park to have fun at.

Thank you again to EVERYONE who came out and made this event so memorable, and special.  This could not have happened without YOU.

Be sure to head HERE for the FULL photo album from the Earth Day Gnar-B-Que!

RUN BEFORE YOU WALK.
Everyone knows the saying "You have to crawl before you walk," however the last few months have been anything but crawling for Dubtree.  Replenishing stock multiple times, selling out of items before they reach the Online Shop, and attending numerous events already this year, has left me feeling like a kid running down a hill and my legs can't keep up.

Online sales have Dubtree shipping to all new parts of the country, while we remain grounded here at home with Family, printing personal t-shirts for companies such as Best Buy and Keen Ramps, as well as donating shirts to ASK Long Beach.

Everything is happening so quickly that I almost forgot that Dubtree is a clothing company and I need to release some new stuff before you say, "forget this fool!" haha!

You know I like to be a tease and give little clues as to what you can expect with an upcoming release.  As with every release I try and push the envelope a little more each time, giving you something fresh, creative, and progressive.  This upcoming release is hands down the gnarliest release I've ever come up with; new players with new talents are involved, new items with new features will be released.

The Dubtree Summer '12 Collection is currently in production and I am working on getting it out as soon as possible, so be sure to check back for updates because you don't want to miss the release date!

Head HERE to take advantage of the Dubtree $5 SALE! while you still have 3 days left!  That sale is still going on?

Yes!  Take advantage!

PAY TO PLAY.
BRO!  I have this SICK show you HAVE to play!  It's only 175 pre-sale tickets, but it'll be SICK!!

How many times has your band been told this?  Then you get to the show and you've brought more people than the headlining band that had to sell zero tickets.  Trust me, I know the feeling, understand the frustration, and yesterday we found out it doesn't end with band life.

My deepest apologies to anyone who came out to see us yesterday in Riverside at the... well, it's not worth talking about because we don't back people who only look out for themselves, and cuss out surrounding businesses in the very strip mall you've just opened your shop because THEY are defending THEIR parking spaces and establishments.

We started the day with a beautiful drive to Riverside, CA.
Got told we couldn't be there, so learning from last week, we politely moved our belongings and equipment to location #2.
We were too close to the taco shop, so back to location #1 we were told.

See, we were there...
However, we were on someone else's property without their approval, so we were moved to a handicapped parking spot.  Obviously, that didn't work so after completely running out of room for brands and vendors, we said forget it and took off.

Big S/O to our hosts that did nothing to help us, let us leave, and issued no form of apology that we traveled all the way from Long Beach to be a part of an event that they over booked.

When we got back home we rounded up some of the Dubtree Artist Family, threw them in the cars and off we went to go skate, explore, film, and salvage the rest of our day.
Upon arrival we started setting up at location #1.
The day couldn't have been any better.  We skated two different spots until our legs were jello, and got more footage than any of us expected.

Be sure to head HERE for one of my favorite photographer's photo album from yesterday, as well as right HERE for my personal photo album from yesterday.

Ray's video footage is currently being edited for an upcoming full length skateboarding film composed of local talent, as well as heavy footage of the Dubtree Artist Family in full effect.

LBClean.
Yesterday Ryan, Skyler, and I went over to Cherry (Bixby) Park in Long Beach to assist our new friends, Friends of Bixby Park, in giving Cherry Park a clean new make over.  We picked up everything from bottles, to cigarette butts, to diapers!
One of the many random things Lawrence found today.
Cory Keen and Lawrence Spank. keeping Long Beach clean.
It's disheartening to see trash left behind, with a trash can less than 10 feet away.
Then I found this bag "For Homeless Man" and was completely taken back.  I love whoever did this.  This is so rad, and thoughtful.  MUCH respect to you, whoever you are.
Pay Day.
Daniel Tim Tim, ASK Long Beach's gardening extraordinaire.
While Skyler and I were cruising the park, a local park goer stopped to acknowledge our work, and in his broken English he thanked us for what we were doing; I will never forget that moment.

...And then of course, I'm quickly brought back into reality by Dr. Glove who was making guest appearances all morning long.
The Difference Makers.  Community Builders.
We had an amazing time today with our Family ASK Long BeachAutism in Long BeachKeen RampsSpank., and of course our new Fam, Friends of Bixby Park.

This park clean up happens on the first Saturday of every month, it's FREE, and completely open to all friends, family, and public.  I definitely encourage everyone to come out because it's not only for a good cause, but it's a gathering all in itself!

Thank you Friends of Bixby Park for having us today; we look forward to doing this again!

Our Fall/Winter release was hands down our most successful release to date.  At first the sales were slow, maybe a little too slow to start, leaving me worried Dubtree had missed our mark, and then out of nowhere I became swamped with orders, restocking sizes, and barely keeping up with providing clothes for our team riders.

After sampling virtually every colorway imaginable, it's time to move on, and brace ourselves for the next chapter in Dubtree history, our Summer release, Dreaming Is Believing.

If you can dream it, you better believe you can achieve it; Dubtree is living proof of that, as some of you may remember, Everything Begins With An Idea.

As kids, Ryan and I grew up surfing and skating together.  Everyday we would scrounge up spare change to take the bus down to the beach and surf until it became blown out (unsurfable conditions), and then come back home to skate until we could barely walk.  That was our lives, and if both of us didn't work full-time jobs outside of Dubtree I'm sure we'd still be doing that.

This Summer, Dubtree will release what we feel is our most creative, and most technical release to date, far surpassing any Collection we have previously released.

Focusing on self belief, our Summer Collection is composed of motivational graphics aiming to energize everyone to believe in themselves, and if they have a vision to go after it.  We only have one life to live, so we need to make the most of it.

Dream it, believe in it, make it happen.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Dreaming Is Believing  |  Summer 2012  |  Dubtree Sneak Peek #1
With the Summer Line currently in production, more updates and sneak peeks will be coming in daily, so make sure you stay up to date with us on FacebookTwitterYouTube, and everyone's favorite Instagram at, @Dubtree.

Dang, I didn't even tell you what kind of items you can expect from us this Summer!

Check back for that because I'm late for work!  I know I suck, I'm sorry!

LIFE IN MOTION.
My friend Ricardo is extremely talented behind the lens.  It comes as no surprise he's Daniel's right hand man on almost every set.  Whether he's assisting, or standing in as a double, the guy is legit.

I met Ricardo almost a year ago while we shot the Dubtree Summer 11 Look Book in Seal Beach, CA.  His generosity, motivation, and commitment, were the first characteristics I noticed about him;  he's seriously one of the nicest guys I've ever met.

Since that shoot Ricardo has been hard at work shooting film daily.  He's a craftsman, a perfectionist, and someone who stands behind his work; so when he sent me this video I knew it was going to be something amazing.

Although this is merely a rough trailer, I am pleased to present to you the unofficial trailer for an upcoming short film by Ricardo Ramirez, called Life In Motion.
An official street date releasing Life In Motion in it's entirety will be available soon, and you better believe when the date is set you'll be the first to know.

HUGE S/O to Ricardo for his support, following his dreams and making it happen.  If you want something bad enough sometimes the only way to make it happen, is to make it happen.

Believe in YOU, because I believe in US.

BIG.
Go big or go home.  Seriously, I hate when bands give out demos and then tell you "Oh our new stuff is on the way and it's so much better!"  Why even pass out your drink coaster of a CD-R in the first place?

Same thing with companies and brands; "This isn't my best stuff, but you get the idea of what we're trying to accomplish."  WTF?  Or my alllllll time favorite, "Bro this is only Delivery 1, the best is yet to come."  So in other words, you're waiting to see what everyone else comes up with so you can quickly whip something up and make it seem like you had it planned all along?  It's cool, I understand; we all understand.

This Summer Dubtree will drop the absolute biggest release I have ever concocted.  Tank tops, tees, specialty tees, flannels, sweaters, snap back hats, hats, beanies, and everyone's favorite, Dubtree Skateboard Decks!

What am I most excited to release this Summer?  The progression that Dubtree has made as a clothing brand.

It's time to do it big.
Halls Cough Drops will not be released in the Summer Collection; sorry to disappoint everyone, I know that's a huge bummer haha.

I've been toying around with a release date for the Summer Collection however every time I do that I start to stress out because I feel like it'll be a huge flop if it's not released on time, so for the time being just know that the release is definitely coming soon, and I'm grinding every day, before, after, and during work to make it happen.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been helping me hype the new collection!  With your help, love, and support Dubtree is growing every single day, and more and more people are getting on board with us!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping make Dubtree your first choice in clothing for your friends, family and community.  Without YOU, Dubtree is nothing.

SO much love and respect to the Dubtree Family.  You can't stop us.

DIY.
I'm still printing our shirts, and Ryan is still burning the screens.  No glitz, no glamour.  Just two childhood friends with a dream to bring positivity to the world; starting here at home with our community.
Summer is right around the corner, and we're working night and day to bring you our most recent collection of Summer items.

Slow and steady wins the race.

STEPHEN FOSTER ELEMENTARY CARNIVAL.
Yesterday we had the amazing opportunity of attending the Stephen Foster Elementary School Carnival.  Along with face painting, ring tossing, everyone's favorite fish game, and pretty much every awesome activity you can think of, Dubtree and Keen Ramps took it one step further for the kids.

Free stickers for all the kids, and just like when we were students at Stephen Foster and the GT Dyno and Vans Team would come to put on a show, we were the action sports entertainment for the carnival, kids, and parents with custom built skate ramps and obstacles designed and built by Cory Keen.
Games, games, and MORE GAMES!!  This carnival has come so far, and is so much cooler than we were went to school here; it was a blessing that we were able to contribute, and look forward to doing it bigger and better every year!
Extra HUGE Thank You to Gigi Blansett for inviting us, and making yesterday possible.  It's a dream come true for us to come back and put on a show and educate the youth.
Head to the Dubtree Facebook Page for a 119 photo album comepletely recapping all of yesterday's festivites; however, not including Lawrence's fractured ankle, or Daniel's rolled popcorn ankle.

It's always on the small obstacles.  Get well soon brothas!

Thank you again to Stephen Foster Elementary for having us, Gigi, the PTA, and everyone else involved who welcomed us with open arms yesterday, and see the beauty in what we're trying to do for the kids.

Clothing the community since 2010.  It's what we do.  Don't trip.
